Jamie's Jottings
February is here! Love is in the air and, thankfully, spring is right around the corner. I generally do not look forward to Kentucky’s February weather; but, this year, I am going to trust a couple of long-range forecasts I have seen. In those forecasts, there are still a few snowy days and definitely some rainy days, but the daily temperatures are mainly in the 40s … with even some 50s and 60s toward the end of the month!
The time is drawing near for all of us to renew our Newcomers & Friends of Lexington memberships for 2025-26. This is the last time we will need to use a paper form to complete our renewals. Each current member will receive a paper form in her “snail” mail from our treasurer, Gail Waller, with instructions for returning it along with a personal check. Please start looking for this form in your USPS mailbox toward the end of the month.
If you still have not accessed our website, lexnewcomers.org, and logged in as a member, please do so. Being a logged in member, you are afforded access to current news, activity descriptions and contacts, and the monthly calendar. In the next few months you’ll also be able to access online event registrations.
Your board of directors is working diligently to fulfill the goals of our 2024-25 club year strategic plan. Thus far, there have been multiple success stories as we grow and expand our club. And we have lots more to accomplish!
Members and board of directors, this is my Valentine to you: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” (Helen Keller). We are proving that every day. As we begin the evolution into a new club year, it is my hope that we will continue our movement forward and that, together, Newcomers & Friends of Lexington will always be “where new connections and lasting friendships are made.”
Meanwhile, hurry spring!
Jamie
