Cheers to 50 years!
As I wrote this letter last year, our club was at 162 members. Today we have 225. That is due to you, the members. You enjoy the activities, the fun, the friendship, you tell your friends, they join, they enjoy the activities, the fun, the friendship.
So how do we keep the momentum going? How do we keep the group strong and viable?
The answer? Leaders!
Each one of our members is currently a leader or a potential leader for this club. And you know the best thing of all is that you don’t have to be a leader, you get to be a leader. You get to share this exciting opportunity called Newcomers & Friends.
When I joined this club, I was overjoyed at the willingness the club members had to try new things, the welcoming spirit of its members and the true love members have for the group. Even after four years in the club, I still tell everyone who asks why I joined Newcomers is that I have made more genuine friendships through this club than I made living in the Pacific Northwest for a decade.
So, think about an activity that you enjoy or would like to enjoy in Newcomers & Friends and either start a new group or start a second or third one that already exists. The saddest thing we can tell a new member is that the group they’re so excited to join is at capacity. Our awesome Activity Director, Leslie Gersten, can get you started.
Also think about how you can contribute to the success of this club by serving in a leadership role. The club needs you.
In the words of Helen Keller, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
