Welcome!

We're glad you found us.

We’ve come into the season of thanks. We give thanks for our health, our friends, our family, our community. Community, that’s a theme embraced by Newcomers & Friends.

We are a community, a group of people who thrive on connection, whether we are sharing a meal, enjoying an outing, or helping others. It’s that connection that has sustained this club for more than 50 years. As we start our celebration of this milestone, we will recognize current members of our club who are still members today, having joined more than 30 years ago.

Make sure you’re part of this celebration and attend the Holiday Luncheon on December 10 at 11:30 a.m. at Carson’s at Andover. Registration deadline is November 21. Click on the flyer on this page to register.

Long-time members have stayed with us because of the friendships they've made — it’s their community. Check out Newcomers & Friends' newest community partnership with CivicLex and attend the “Join or Die” documentary screening on November 6 at 7 p.m. at the Kentucky Theatre. It’s a film about how joining a club can transform you and your community. Make sure to use the PARTNER promo code when purchasing tickets to get them for free!

Our next opportunity to lend a helping hand is Saturday, November 22. Through God’s Pantry Food Bank, we're helping deliver Thanksgiving meal boxes in Fayette County. Club members are encouraged to sign up for the Box Delivery time block from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. An additional opportunity is holiday food bags for the Big Blue Pantry to supplement food insecure students living on campus during the holiday break. See the club calendar for additional information. Thank you Anita Alford for your work on developing these opportunities.

Congratulations for a job well done goes out to the club for raising nearly $800 for the Crop Hunger Walk. Our team consisted of 12 members, two significant others, two pets and a grandson. The money will go to purchase chickens, cows etc. around the world, and to directly benefit God’s Pantry Food Bank here in Kentucky. All to help end hunger, one step at a time. Thank you to Anita Alford for organizing.

Finally, a very important part of our club is growing community, inviting new members to join. The club has embarked on a goal of outreach to the surrounding bluegrass area. The first effort was a Meet & Greet on October 15 in Jessamine County. It was a huge success with four new members joining. A special shout out goes to the organizers Leslie Gersten, Cheryl Feigel, Marian Mirecki, Jean Scaravilli, Naoko Neff, and Susan Feher.
With Great Thanks,

Brenda,
